DEVOTION FOR TODAY

Sometimes I wonder why we beat ourselves so hard when we fail. Failure is a part of the human life. To fail means to fall short of success or achievement in something expected, attempted, desired or approved. That means we all began life failing as sinners. Rom. 3:23. We fail sometimes on a daily basis as we fall short of both our personal and other people's expectations. We fail ourselves, our parents, etc. The question is, why do we fail?
Psalm 73:26 gives us an answer. 1. You are in this container called flesh. The flesh is addicted to fail. No matter how hard you try to succeed, eventually, your flesh will fail. John Knox was the founder of the Presbyterian Church in Scotland. Queen Mary of Scotland said she feared the prayers of John Knox more than an army of ten thousand men. Yet, John Knox in his dying moments admitted his own personal battles with the flesh. He said, I know how hard the battle is between the flesh and the Spirit under the cross of affliction...I know the grudging and murmuring complaints of the flesh. Most great people will never admit their personal struggles so you think they don't know what you experience almost daily. The truth is that eventually we all will fail when death deals it's final blow. Then you will realize that even the rich, successful and powerful eventually fail in death. 2. Your heart can fail even before your flesh fails. This is the reason why most people fail a thousand times before they really fail. When your heart fails. Your heart is the basis for either failure or success. If you must succeed in spite of your deficiency and deprivation, you must work on your heart. What gives life and energy to your heart to succeed is the God factor. God must become the strength of your heart. That's why Jesus is knocking at your heart's door to come in. Rev. 3:20. If He occupies your heart, then, you can be saved and safe. Only Jesus can determine the salvation and strength of your heart. Give Him your heart so He can keep it safe and strong no matter what happens around you. Feed your heart daily with God's word so your heart can be strong. Receive strength by speaking God's word to your heart. Partner with me to reach 30 million souls in 50 nations this year. Bishop Michael O. Amamieye -www.aggressivefaith.org.
