DEVOTION FOR TODAY

Plato said, 'We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.' That indeed is tragic to be afraid to love again after a heart break. No wonder we see a lot of single men and women who dread the idea of marriage because of a broken heart. No wonder we find great dysfunction in our society because these dysfunctions are just a manifestation of our greatest fears.
Fear has been magnified today to many aspects of human life. The list of fears are endless. A German proverb says that fear makes the Wolf bigger than he is. 1 John 4:18 shows us that fear is what separates the immature from the mature. If you are afraid, it is a clear sign that you are immature. You are still a child. Every time you say, I am scared or afraid, you just said, I am childish and immature. Stop bragging about being silly. No wonder you are attracting vultures into your life. Love makes you look great and gorgeous. Think love. Talk love. Act love. It cast out fears of any kind. When you truly love, you are no longer afraid of losing your partner to your best friend or an admirer. Love conquers fear. Fear torments and troubles your mind even when there is no such thing. Like Eleanor Roosevelt said, 'You gain strength, courage and confidence by each experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, "I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along." You must do the thing you think you cannot do.' Pick up your sorry behind and get back to life, love and light. That is your home zone. Love again. Live again. You are a big boy now. So you can suck it up. You are a big girl now. So you can make it work. Tell yourself a thousand times, I CAN. Partner with me to reach 30 million souls in 50 nations this year. Bishop Michael O. Amamieye - www.aggressivefaith.org.
