DEVOTION FOR TODAY

Who likes correction? Who likes discipline? Even though it is good for us yet we fight it one way or another. We fight it because of the timing or the location or who was there. We only appreciate it when we see the changes discipline brings into our lives.
Chastening or discipline is God's way to empower us so we can become what He designed us to be. Every time you are disciplined, see it as either a blessing or a lesson you must learn to become what you were born to be. Psalm 94:12-13 shows us the benefits of discipline. 1. It empowers you. When I was a child, I was taught to believe that when someone bigger and stronger than you beats you up, unknown to them, they are transferring their power to add to yours. Eventually, you grow up to be bigger and stronger than them. I still believe that is true. Discipline empowers you. Anything or anyone beating you up today, watch it, tomorrow you will beat them up if you choose. 2. It teaches you. Every discipline is teaching and training for the next level. What is the difference between going to the gym to be beaten or buffeted and the beatings from someone who hates you? The difference is location. Take every location as your gym. It will help you to learn better. 3. It gives you rest or relief in adverse times. When you have experienced discipline at home, it becomes easier to take it at school or work or church. The fact that you survived a wicked uncle or aunt is proof you can survive a wicked teacher or boss or government.
