DEVOTION FOR TODAY

The relationship you will ever have with God will be determined by the knowledge you have of God. What you know about God is what He is to you, just you. No one can claim absolute knowledge of God except Jesus Christ who came from God and has gone back to Him. However, every human being has the capacity to know a spec or side of God as revealed to them by God.
Psalm 100:5 shows us three sides of God that everyone ought to know but don't know. 1. The LORD is good. How many servants can attest to the fact that their masters are good. You can't watch dramas like Invasion 1857, 12 Years A Slave, Roots, etc, and ever conclude that the colonial masters were good. The fallen man becomes big, rich and better by putting down his fellow being. The rich fool become rich by making many poor. However, God is not like that. He wants man to look like Him. God is good because He takes pleasure in doing good. He is essentially the good being. 2. The LORD is merciful. Wicked and selfish people always press for justice to create an impression that they are truthful. When a leader claims to be above board and seems righteous, he forces right doing on the people. God is not like any man you know who behaves like he is clean and wants everyone to buy that. God is so merciful that the one society and the system has condemned becomes the one He has chosen. So before you condemn someone be careful lest you find yourself fighting God's choice. 3. The LORD is enduring. Why is it that relationships don't last? Lack of endurance. How many of us can endure even ourselves not to talk of someone who thinks, talks and takes annoying actions? But God endures us all. No matter how bad you are, He still sticks with you. He loves you until you change. Even when you fall or fail or fumble, God understands and He loves you. He is the only constant in your life whether you recognize Him or not.
