DEVOTION FOR TODAY

Martin Luther said, You can't stop a bird flying overhead, but you can stop it nesting in your hair. While you can't stop the Devil from doing what he is designed to do, you can see his back as he flees before you. James 4:7 shows us two secrets to stopping the Devil in operation in your life as you put him to flight.
Yes, you don't have to always look at your back if the Devil is behind trying to hurt or harm you. You can watch his back as he flees before you. 1. Submit yourself to God. You are no match for the Devil because he has been here before you. Your sustained victory over the Devil is only guaranteed when you are under God's protection and providence. That's why on a daily basis you submit yourself to God by hearing His word, believe His word, confess His word and act on His word. That's where you are guaranteed safety, security and supplies. As long as you are under God's protection, no Devil can hurt or harm you. That's why you are not safe unless you are saved. 2. Resist the Devil. No time are we instructed to dialog or negotiate with the Devil. Dialogue or negotiation with terrorist is only empowering them somehow. To resist is to stand your ground and speak with authority. It is said that a great oak is a little nut that held its ground. Put your feet on the ground and tell that sucker to get out of your life, marriage, ministry, business, etc. You don't take a NO for an answer. Stand your ground until you take over every space. Charles Spurgeon said, by perseverance the snail reached the ark. If you persist and persevere, you will see the Devil flee before you.
