DEVOTION FOR TODAY

Abraham Lincoln said, 'Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.' Power. The capacity, authority and audacity to talk and take actions that changes situation. Who doesn't want it? Can you imagine if you can do what you want, when you want and how you want with no interruption?
The desire for power is planted in every human being. When God designed man, He planted the seed of dominion or authority in man. Gen. 1:26. That's why even babies try to exercise it on their mother's. When the baby cries, it is exercising dominion over the mother by that cry. When she doesn't give him or her the breast on time, he or she bites the mother's breast as a warning. You see children who don't know what they need decide what they need and when. Some mother's even fall for that nonsense. They say my child only likes chocolate. What does that child know to decide for you? You are the adult with authority. Use your powers given to you by God. God gives power. Acts 1:8, Jesus said, you shall receive power. This power is the ability or capacity to multiply your impact and effectiveness. It is the ability to think, talk and take actions that make you look like God. It is the power Adam lost in the Garden that made him produce the kinds of results he did before his fall. This power energizes your being so you can produce proofs that can be attributed to God at work in you. This power comes in you after you receive the Holy Ghost. What we should hunger for is not the power but the Person and Presence of the Holy Ghost. He is the power of God. Seek to be filled on a daily basis with His power and presence. How do you activate His presence and power? 1. You must consciously welcome His Person into your life just as you invited Jesus into your heart. Ask the Holy Spirit to come into your life and home. Tell Him to be your Lord. 2 Cor. 3:17. Where He is Lord there is liberty. That's the proof He is your Lord when you have liberty in your spirit. 2. You must cultivate praying with Him by praying in tongues. 1 Cor. 14:14. Rom. 8:16. Spend quality time praying in the spirit. 3. Take actions when you receive a nudge or witness or prompting. Never delay or disobey His instructions. The easiest way to disconnect from Him is to not take action when He gives an instruction. Just obey before you try to understand. Become an effective witness by obeying His promptings in your heart. Partner with me to reach 30 million souls in 50 nations this year. Obey the Holy Spirit to do what He tells you in our global ministry. Bishop Michael O. Amamieye - www.aggressivefaith.org
