DEVOTION FOR TODAY

In James 1:19, I find three instructions that can change your world.
1. Swift to hear. Be quick to hear what will add value to you because our lives today are the results of the words we heard yesterday. One of my sons in Zimbabwe heard the word in my devotional three days ago when I said heal your tongue and your body will be alright. He began to speak to his body that had suffered from stomach ulcers. He went to sleep. In his dream, he was testifying to people that Christ has healed him of ulcers. He woke up the next morning and the ulcers are all gone. Now he feels brand new because he was quick to hear the word that brought his healing. 2. Slow to speak. Before you make a comment about anything or anyone, be sluggish. Your words have the power to give life or death. Prov. 18:21. When you talk too much, there is the possibility to offend God and man. Too much words produce sin. Prov. 10:19. Be sluggish to join the negative comment group. Be sluggish to speak what your body and bank accounts are saying. Be sluggish to say your mind if it is negative. Don't say it if it is not in line with God's word for you. Don't say you are sick or weak or broke or depressed. Before you say the word, ask yourself, is this what I want as my reality? Is this in line with what God told me this year? In Mark 11:23, Jesus said, I SAY to you...YOU SAY to the mountain. That is the rule: I SAY...YOU SAY. What you SAY should be what He has said to you. This will definitely slow us down to speak if every time we have to hear what He is saying. 3. Slow to wrath. Be slow to getting angry, mad and anxious. Most times we are angry for nothing. Find out why and what before you get angry. There must always be a reason why they are not taking or responding to your text or calls or emails. There must be a reason why they are coming late or delayed. What are they struggling with that is affecting their response in paying the bills? When you ask sensible and sensitive questions, you will have answers to slow you from getting angry, mad and anxious.
