DEVOTION FOR TODAY

Wars begin, continue and end because of words. The war in your mind is because of words spoken to you by someone who did not know the impact of those words in your life. The war in your marriage or work place was started by a careless word someone you trust or admire spoke.
The war brewing in our country today are fueled by words spoken by a few careless people. That's why I don't like to see graphic images that show what wicked people are doing to Christians or a people group considered to be less than. One image produces more words that can cause a thousand wars. I know there are wicked and evil people out there. They are doing what they know to do because someone spoke those words to them that drive them to do what they do. If they know the opposite of what they have heard, they will be different. This is why the gospel of Christ is so powerful. Without using physical weapons, we see transformations just by words. I remember a notorious criminal who was even called the mayor of a popular town in the Niger Delta who was saved in one of my crusades. Who could have changed him? The police could not. Prison could not. But the simple gospel of Christ arrested him and turned him around. There is power in soft words. Prov. 15:1 will cure most of the quarrels, strife and struggles we have with our loved ones, friends, colleagues and even those we consider to be our enemies. There are people who love you to want to help you but your words keep creating wars you can't win. The next time you notice the struggles coming in your relationship, try using a gentle word. Instead of a sharp and strong word, try a soft word. Instead of a harsh response, try a soft approach. You can't fight everyone in your world and wonder why you are lonely. God has blessed you with so many people to make your life easy but your words will determine how long they can hang out with you to help you. Lord, help me in this area of my life in Jesus name. Amen. Partner with me to help me reach 30 million souls in 50 nations this year. Bishop Michael O. Amamieye -www.aggressivefaith.org.
